It was originally named the JEDEYE, spelled with eye at the end to avoid any affiliation with the film industry, however this later became an issue after the boat was announced. The boat is still technically named a Jedeye, however, Pyranha really are pushing for people to refer to the boat as a Jed.

That's what I thought, but they appear to have been fairly consistent calling it 'JED' (and then sticking a picture of an eye). Guess its all copyright stuff...

Still only beaten in the 'worst kayak name' stakes by the Zelezny Spunt. Seriously Pyranha, wtf??

Either way it has got to be one of the worst named boats ever.

Whilst admitedly not a great name, at least Pyranha have moved away from their fascination with naming boats with drug culture references.
I mean, come on Pyranha! The Burn?? The 420?? The Razor and Blade?? And who can forget their classic: the Pyranha King Sized Rizla...?

There's a composite creek boat on there, wonder how long that would last...

And right here it's called a Jed.

http://www.teampyranha.com/2012/01/09/2012-pyranha-jed-promo/

In other news; I think this boat looks sweet and can't wait to get my hands on one, hopefully in the green and black.

So does anyone know when people will be able to demo & buy this boat?
Or do you think I would be better off just buying a project x now?

Once the season has properly started there should be demos available at most suppliers. I'm pretty sure I read that it would be available in march or may? either way, I'd wait.

We've just be taken delivery of our Demo Pyranha Jed (M) seen below with the Pyranha Loki - it's going into production this week so should be in your local shop within the next couple of weeks. RRP is £849.

Pop in and have a look.

Given that Rich talked about the use of a 'cut and shut' process in their boat design (in his talk at the River's Source symposium), is that the back of an Inazone I see stuck on the Loki?!

i3 front deck, although she looks a lot more balanced than the i3 which is quite a good thing. The Loki looks a nice boat, a modern take on an old school play boat. I have not tried one, but from video it looks a like there's a ease in paddlability and as such it might be a tad slower than I would of hoped for. We've allot use to faster boats, so I don't want a slow one, still the proof is in the eating, well paddling of the Loki.

Looking at the Dartfest display, both the Loki and the Varun very much shades of the i3.
Why is nobody talking about the Varun? It looks great and so much room for your feet!
