Collins & Blain. It's interesting to note that the majority of hard stuff in that neck of the woods and further south has been run by those pair in open boats!

Are you sure Chris? I could have sworn that Swallow was run by Phil Blain and Dave luke in a tandem.

Those the days

Postby chris s sladden » Sat Oct 20, 2007 1:49 am

Thanks for the memories and posting the pictures.
Ray Rowe and Phil Blain are worthy legends! Fred Wondre is also a remarkable character- who is going to be joining me in BC for some powder skiing in the New Year- he will probably burn my butt

The other fellow in the open boat on Swallow was a fellow from Leicester, but for the life of me I cannot think of his name.

I remember Ray commenting that he was getting too old for this lark- I now know what he meant.

All good things

I have a feeling it was Dave Crooks.

I also think it was Dave Crooks, he worked for Mobile Adventure at the time. I recall both Phil Blain and Dave Crooks taking open boats down the fairy glen, got some photos somewhere!.

Some photos from paddling all three drops on Saturday http://gallery.ouckc.co.uk/v/drnick/Dr+Nick/?g2_page=1. The tree is all gone (did someone remove it or did it wash out?). We testing plugging the syphon but there seemed to be enough water to make sure that if you were afloat you wouldn't head that way (but put a lot of safety there anyway!) The right of center boof then 'left of the right channel' boof line on the third drop is really quite fun.
