I've been inspired (after seeing that drawing that looked like Eddie from Iron Maiden on a kayak, and finding an image I like) to add a design to the front of my Burn, and was wondering what was the best way to do it? After searching on here I believe paint, including car spray paint, ends up looking really naff in not too long. I have seen people comment about having stickers made, about how much does this cost for something about 21cm x 16cm in three simple colours? (I have PM'd Rick Foster of Bala Graphics, but am awaiting a reply) Does the fact that the surface is not smooth where I want the image to be effect the adherence?
Alternatively, which pens would be good for it? Sharpies? General permanent markers? Anything else?

China markers are quite effective, and can be removed.

Re: Drawings on Kayaks
I've got a spud with drawings on it in permanent marker that have been there (albeit touched up from time to time) for 17 years.
I'll see if I can find a pic.

So did you actually draw anything on your boat, I'm about to have a stab at it now, any tips...

After spending ages going back through the pages of threads (I've been on holiday) I was about to say I couldn't find it, when I remembered he'd done it using a Sharpie, so one search on here later...

Re: Drawings on Kayaks
I have both drawn on it (on the bottom, cos stickers wouldn't last long) and had stickers made up (for the deck). I'll see about posting some pics tomorrow, if I remember!

Here's what I've done to my boat:

The pens I used were Pilot Supercolor Gold and Silver, and a bog standard black permanent marker (Q-Connect). (You can see where the black has run a bit where I scraped it over a rock first time out!) For the stickers I used Art & Sea.

Has anybody tried air brushing pics on boats?

On the same page that the blue 'Eddie' boat (above) was originally on were some photos of someone colouring in their orange playboat for a student rodeo (I think) with tiger stripes, but I can't find the thread anymore, even after searching for "sharpie".
