Tree on the Nith, and missing boat

Postby hieuhoang » Mon Jan 12, 2009 3:11 pm

Not sure if this has washed down recently or not, but there's a large tree near the Enterkinburn section of the Nith. Photo attached is from the weekend of 11th Jan at very high water.

Also, my blue Acro 300 floated away after having avoid this obstacle. It's not worth much but if anyone's seen in please give me a shout.

Many thanks

The photo was taken with the level somewhere between 5 and 7 on the Drumlanrig Bridge gauge. I don't know whether it'll be more or less dangerous strainer at lower levels. Of course, it could have washed further downstream already. Sorry about the boat, Hieu.
What a trip... :)

Paddled the Nith on Saturday from Picnic site to take out at Drumlanrig
Sorry to say no sign of boat
Nith was at four after dropping off significantly from day before so baot may have been flushed downstream of Drumlanrig, either that or it was doing well at hiding from us.

Can't belive that tree is still there after all that sawing, it's cut near 2/3 through the main trunk and it's still not gone in the high levels.....
