Trees on the Yarrow

Postby Notters » Sun Dec 28, 2008 10:39 pm

After the recent flooding mid december there are a few trees people should be aware of. There are some overhanging branches on the river right of the first rapid at the start of the gorge. in lower flows the main flow is directed towards these so car should be taken. they are passable but very tricky if a beginner.

The second lot of trees are near the take out for the generals bridge. There has been a land slide river right and these are big trees/branches which are now taking up the whole river and would be very diffult to pass in high water.

We also noticed that (what we thought was) the electronic river level monitoring device that was attached to the rocks near the mechanical gauge was missing, but after checking the sepa website the measurements seem to still be getting updated...

I'm hoping to get up with a saw for the first lot but might contact buccleuch estates for the bigger trees as they have fallen from there side of the river therefore they are responsible. will update soon.

Ryan.

The trees at the start of the gorge have now been cleared away and should be alot easier to pass now.

Oh man that tree was one of hardest features, it had been there for about 5/6 years thats harsh. It made a low water run of the Yarrow more interesting as you tried to roch grind the bank to avoid it or took it in the farce if you did'nt (he he).
