I'd offer a house swap but the commute would kill me :(

What's it looking like at the moment? Rain forecast over night, if it happens what affect will it have?

30mm in West of Ireland today, so you could be lucky...check rain gauges & EA river levels in morning.

Metcheck says 12mm of rain in Swansea at 16:00, will that be enough for an evening paddle on the Mellte?

EA gauges show the Tawe came up more this eve.

Mellte paddleable this morning, but not high, it rose about midnight - Tawe the same but rose earlier.

Unfortunately can't get over there this morning, but maybe this evening...

Anyone any ideas as to what level on the EA gauge (currently 0.56) is a rough indicator that the 15' below Sgwd Isaf Clun Gwyn is covered so you can float over the ledge down the middle/left?

Also, anyone know exactly where the EA gauge is located, the name suggests it is at the confluence between the Mellte and the Nedd Fechan, but is it biased?

Around 0.55 the ledge is normally covered, but it does depend how much water is coming down the Hepste, as the gauge is at the gauging weir just upstream of the take out. Nedd Fechan joins further downstream. I've been there when plenty of water was coming down the Hepste & the Mellte above was scrapey & when nothing was coming down the Hepste & Mellte was great at about the same gauge readings!

Unless you get a bit more rain to top it up it will have dropped by tonight.

I agree with Jmmoxon, 55 usually means the ledge is covered.
We have probably paddled it on a 40 (a few years ago now when we were young) but it was a scraped.
We won't think about getting changed below 50.

Looks like it could be, almost an inch (20mm) of rain so far on http://www.nantymoel.co.uk/

Although Tawe was high this morning & is already dropping off.
