A small group of us are thinking of doing the Ogwen next Friday (19th March). I see from the guide that the suggestion is to not paddle during the angling season. Is this actually the case, ie are there problems, and if so, does anyone know the effective dates? Thanks.

As of today (04/11/2010)
There's a tree blockage in the islands between the A5 (stone bridge as you head from Bangor to Bethesda) and A55 bridges. It's an easy portage, and there may be a route past in high water, just be aware!

In all fairness to Wakey... he wasn't lying... All the rivers were very full yesterday! Conwy burst its banks, as did many other rivers! Shame about the low water table however, all the water has just gone straight underground and everything is low again by today!

Edit...
If you go... Watch out for the tree under the A5 bridge!

Was thinking more of his comment on welsh river level thread.
Grammar & punctuation were acceptable though.
