Iam a member of south lakes search and rescue and we are currently the only decicated swift watre rescue team. We were training on backbarrow fall. We where approched by a local who said he was sure that there was still scafolding in the water somewhere, which was left behind after the repair of the bridge. We did some swimming around and had no issues. We also talked to the owner of the hotel who saying he would like to be informed on anyone planing to run the river, as some of his Residents where telling him about may capsizes and where become concerned about the people in the water. As a exprinced paddler I know that most people can handle the safety and rescue issues when paddling river, but the most of the hotel Residents maybe unaware and get wored about what they see. A quite massage would not hurt to prevent any over-excitement form resendents watching people swim down the river. stu
