Re: Wet West Paddlefest 2012
The committee are looking for you to design the T-Shirt for the next Wet West Paddle Fest. The winning entry will be decided by the Recreation Rivers Committee and will be announced on the SCA website and here towards the end of July.
Conditions of Entry & Criteria for Judging...
Entries should be submitted as JPEG files.
Entrants can specify preferred t-shirt & printing colour within reason.
When judging, cost of production will be taken into account so it may be that a single colour entry will be favoured.
Multiple entries are welcomed.
Entries should be sent to neil.farmer@canoescotland.org by the 15th of July. All entries will be acknowledged by email within 3 days - if an acknowledgement email is not received, contact the SCA office or rant at me here ;)
Once the results are decided, entrants will receive an email regarding the result. The Winner will receive 2 free WWPF tickets as well as the warm fuzzy glow of seeing about 300 paddlers sporting their creativity over the weekend!

Not many t-shirt entries in so far.
The online ticket sales will close at 1300 on Monday 13th August, 2012.
If you want to take the opportunity of the reduced rates, you need to book before this date.
Tickets will still be available at the door, but we cannot guarantee the right size or any t-shirt.

Some WWPF updates from the Rec Rivers Committee...
"To everyone coming to WWPF,
Hope that you are all excited about another year of Wet West on the Garry and the Moriston. This year we are back at the British Aluminium Club due to popular demand.
This year due to some unfortunate recent incidents there has had to be a few rules added to Wet West. This is to ensure that we can continue to have the consent of the local people and the event can run year after year.
The rules can be found here - http://bit.ly/Pk4p7R
All under 16's coming will require to fill out a form to attend the event.
Here is our policy - http://bit.ly/Qj9h1c
And here is the all important form - http://bit.ly/MhLxMi
Online ticket sales for the 2012 WWPF will close at 1300 on Monday 13th August 2012.
Get 'em while they are cheaper! (and while you can get a guaranteed size for your WWPF T shirt)
Buy your tickets here - http://bit.ly/Pnh61W"

Can someone please provide directions/location for the British Aluminium Club.
Running it through google gives a number of (unlikely looking) options, with quite some distance between them.

Martin,
Follow the A82 North Road to Inverlochy from Fort William by following the road past the Nevis Centre to Inverlochy Castle Ruin, which is about a mile towards the Lochy Bridge. Just past the ruined castle is the turning for the Alcan Social Club on the left, just past the turning for the Lochaber smelting works on your right.
We just walked there from the Bank Street Lodge in Fort William two years ago, didn't take long.
Peter

To all the ladies that have pre-booked. There is a bit of a sizing issue with the t shirts (size 8,10,12 instead of s,m,l etc).
You will be getting an email soon to make sure we have the right size for you, so please check your inbox.
I guess giving us all your details actually was a good thing ;)

Re: Wet West Paddlefest 2012
Folks,
The 2012 event booklet is available for download.
If you're going you'll get a copy in the welcome pack on arrival but it's worth having a gander now.
Key changes to last year -
Moriston
Revised shuttle times on the Moriston (starting the Lower earlier) and the new for this year requirement that when you're finished doing laps of the Upper you paddle back down to the Gun Club under your own steam. This should get round the problems we had last year of buses being split between the upper and lower and too many people needing picked up at once.
I can only reiterate the 'Leave Your Car at the Gun Club' mantra!!
Fort William
BA Club, not Nevis Centre and behave!
Cheers,
Niall

Coz it's now showing no rain (& you'll have to switch to the 7 days forecast after this weekend), whilst yr.no has gone the other way:

Re: Wet West Paddlefest 2012
Day one on the River Moriston, and despite the dull overcast weather, a lot of fun appeared to be going on. A wee sample of some of the day's photos:
What the GoPro video doesn't capture - the facial expression, as you appear to confidently ace another line...

Plenty water

Interesting lines...

All sorts of boats

All sorts of carnage

And more than enough action

It's the River Garry tomorrow, for day two... hangovers permitting.
