Etive River Race

Postby james fleming » Sat Mar 26, 2011 8:13 pm

The ERR has been running for the past few years. The first year was massive and the race was on the top section. The following two years the race was on the actual course; Triple to Right Angle.

The month and weeks of the build up to the ERR was stressful, mainly due to the water levels. Too much Vs Too little.

To these ends the ERR, run by the SCA Rec Rivers Committee will not be run again.

To those who brought it to furiton, Chris Tickner, Ian Letton and Rich Banister uber thanks. Thanks also to those who supported it and Scott from NTS!

The Etive River Race is dead, long live the Moriston River Race!

Sad to hear... but awesome to hear that you're rocking a Moriston race.

Just need to change those dates - wedding and honeymoon May/June 2012 means you're going to have to be precise with the dates. End of June for me! :-)

Good luck!

Mid June please, or early May. The Valsesia River Festival in Italy for 2012 will be in late May, the Teva Outdoor Games is normally 2nd week of June, and Voss Extreme is in late June. I think you'll struggle to not clash with another event though.

Yeah, the important one is my wedding though ;-) I'll be missing all the above, but will probably be in trouble if I bail on the wedding :-) haha...

James,

Sad to hear that the event will no longer be on the calendar, you and the rest of the SCA Recreational Rivers Committee did a great job of organising and running such a fun event for the last three years, I am sure that the Moriston River Race will be just as much fun. See you on the start line in 2012.

A race on the Moriston :-) Got all the ingredients for a great extreme race. Call me soft but if you want spectators to enjoy the occasion or rescue crews to man those sticky stoppers then early to mid May before the midges come out to play.

Agree 100%.

Best of luck with this plan, presumably you have the hydro people on board for another weekend release? Top Moriston or Lower? (I know which would bring the most / best carnage.....) Much harder to arrange I know but imagine a separate race on both sections, with prizes for fastest Upper, fastest Lower, and best combined / overall winner!

Shame the ERR never produced perfect levels, if only....! That first one was epic... everyone heading off after their run to pack in as many other rivers in as possible with the huge levels....

Rich.

Dude, a double...upper then lower! Now there's something... But, yes - early to mid May is looking good.
