Just a quick point in the right direction.

The first courses for Pyranha Fest 2009 have been released on the brand spanking new website http://www.pyranhafest.com

Check it out, more courses are being released week by week and believe me, there is a whole lot more going on this year.

It's going to be massive!

Massively Fun!

For those of us who hate phones... Is there an email address/form to book through? Not really comfortable ringing up a random stranger and giving them my card details without any kind of form to fill in. In fact not really comfortable ringing random strangers full stop!

Guess I'm not getting a reply then...

Very nice looking website, but very little information on it.

The website mentions nothing about tickets for the Saturday night, assuming that there is some sort of party going on again?

Also a number/email address for general enquiries/bookings would be useful. The only numbers on there are what I assume to be the personal numbers of the coaches.

EDIT: have just noticed that there's a second page... that wasn't exactly obvious. A number for the party, but still no contact details for Pyranha.

Hi Pickle,

We are re-working the website at the moment. a lot more details will be up and live with all of the coaching courses by the end of the week.

There is a party again like last year. It is £15 a ticket again and this will get you into the party and bar at Glan Llyn, give you access to all of the films and lectures and also the dance hall where Extreme events will be dj'ing again like last year.

By the end of the week, all the info should be up. If you still have any questions then message me. I'll always try and get back to you with an answer as soon as I can.

Cheers,
Sammy.

Is any one else using Chrome unable to see this website or is it just me being special? All I get is black (my flash is up to date and it claims to have loaded, I have the normal right click options, it's just black)

Jaq and Shifty.

No idea what's happening there. We've tried it in Chrome here and it's working fine.

Sorry. If you can, try Firefox. Works good on my comp.

PM me your email addresses and I can send you jpegs of the site if that'll help?

Just a reminder to have a look at the website and choose your workshop. Remember its not just river kayaking, I'm hosting a workshop on sea kayaking skills on Bala Lake and then at the evening lecture we will be hosting our video from the recent Below and Beyond Machu Picchu Expedition in Peru.

See you on the water

Ok, I'm confused again. I booked a couple of tickets for the party the other week, but haven't received them (been charged though). Anyways, decided to send an email to the people. As the accommodation is listed under the same name and number (Glan-Lyn, Bala) as the party with a link to the Glan-Lyn Caravan and Camping Park, I got an email address from their website and popped them an email. Got one in return telling me they weren't organising the party and I need to contact Gwersyll Yr Urdd Glanllyn.

So who are the party organisers? A pub? Any chance of a link and some directions etc?

Having camped at the site this summer perhaps I can explain your confusion (I had the same confusion too!). There is an outdoor centre called Glan Lynn which is next door to a campsite, called Glan Lynn that seem to be run by different people but probably for the same owner. Book your camapsite direct with the campsite and your party ticket with the outdoor centre. There is a field between the two venues so not sure if we can stagger back through this at night or will have to walk round the footpath on the road!

Hope that helps.

Hi everyone,

Pyranha Fest is next weekend (12-13th September). The coaching sessions and accommodation are booking up quickly so be sure to book quickly if you want to make sure you get a place!

Just to confirm the details with everyone. Accommodation, camping and party tickets can all be purchased by calling Glan Llyn, on 01678 541000

You will be able to pick your tickets up at the registration desk which will be at Glan Llyn in the sports hall.

Registration Times are as follows:
Friday: 5-9pm
Saturday Morning: 8am - 9:15am
Saturday Evening: 4pm - 5:30pm

(If you need to arrive out of these hours please inform Glan Llyn and we will try to accommodate you when you are able arrive.)

Now,

A couple of last minute additions to the courses are:

Ray Goodwin will also have Bob Timms helping him out on his canoeing specific courses. These are, 'Poleing for shallow water and it's use in sailing rigs' and also 'Technical strokes that will give you greater efficiency on whitewater.
To speak to Ray about booking onto his course he can be contacted on: 01490 412130

Adam Harmer is running the 'P&H Introduction to Sea Kayaking' sessions on Bala Lake. Adam is the WCA Regional Coaching Organiser (North) and a popular and well respected coach over at Plas Y Brenin.
Adam can be contacted on: 07971 189514

(The number on the website is wrong for Adam so if you been trying to contact him then we are very, very sorry but the above number is the correct one so please try him as soon as you can!)

Schedules of other off the water activities will be placed around both the National Whitewater Centre and Glan Llyn to let you know what else is happening and on what site.

The FREE Photographic workshop with Dave Fairweather, Chris Eastabrook and Paul Smith will happen again this year and will happen at 2pm on the Saturday at the Tryweryn based site.

Round 5 of the Pyranha Summer Series will be taking place on both the Saturday & the Sunday at Pyranha Fest and with so many of Team Pyranha around the centre there should be an even BIGGER audience to cheer the competitors on this time round. : )

The party again looks set to be an amazing evening with brilliant talks lined up, don't miss out!

Once again,

All the courses are online at http://www.pyranhafest.com

Accommodation, camping and party tickets can be booked on: 01490 412130

Cheers,

I'll see you there,

Sammy.

Apparently the A494 will be closed Sunday morning, from 9 am to 1 pm, for a triathlon. It seems exit from the Glanllyn campsite or Glan-llyn outdoor centre will not be possible during these times as the road will be closed - so I'm told. It may also not be possible to avoid this by going via the narrow windy road via Parc & Rhyduchaf, as this will still mean crossing the main road - unless you ask the Police nicely and they happen to let you.

So if you fancy leaving the campsite Sunday morning, or heading back up to CT, you'd better leave well before 9 am.

Glan-llyn have emailed let us know, but I thought it might be worth putting this up here to alert more people. Anyone have any more info etc?

Hi Guys

Just a quick reminder that as well as adjacent camping there is also dorm accomodation available at Glan Lynn where the party is being held. This would be great for famillies or for any people who "don't do camping". Accomodation is available on the Friday and Saturday nights.

The weekend is shaping up nicely with great weather.

See you there.

http://www.wrecsamtri.org.uk/joomla/ - says the road will be closed as well. So does the CT Water Info Line. I'll see if I can check with the Heddlu tomorrow.

Just phoned North Wales Police. They tell me the A494 will be closed from 09:30 to 13:30. Therefore best to get out of the campsite before then if you want to get to CT.

A bit more traffic news!

Apparently there's some sort of motorcycle rally Sunday am, to protest about motorcyclists not being allowed in national parks or something. I'm told loads of bikers will be congregating in Llangollen Sunday am, then moving on to Swallow Falls/Bettws y Coed. I don't know what times, and the road won't be closed, but expect lots of bikers on the A5.

In case you're going that way.
