Dave Manby Lecture in Manchester 18th Jan CHANGE OF VENUE

As per the title; Dave Manby, legendary expedition paddler and author of Many Rivers to Run will be giving a talk in Manchester on Thursday the 18th of this month. Sorry for the short notice, I've had a bit of trouble sorting the venue.

Expect some entertaining tales of paddling exploits around the globe across the past three decades from a very entertaining speaker.

Venue: The Bowling Green (note: this is a pub, not actually a bowling green), 3 Grafton St, Manchester, M13 9NZ. Sorry, no under 18s allowed..

Time: 7.30 for a 8ish start

Cost: £3 donation to manchester uni canoeclub.

The talk has been organised by Manchester University Canoe Club to help fund some new boats.

Sorry for the late notice, we have had to change the venue of the talk to The Tea Room at the Armitage Centre (Firs Athletic Grounds) in Fallowfield, off Moseley Road.



The reason forf the change is the expected high numbers of people so hopefully it should be a good night.



Arrive at abround 8 for an 8.30 start.



There is plenty of parking at the Armitage.



There is no bar at the Armitage so there are no age restrictions.

From M62 follow Stockport/Airport signs onto M60. Leave M60 at J8 signed Manchester. Follow A56 Chester Road towards Manchester Centre for 3/4 mile. Then right into A5145 Edge Lane signed Sheffield. After 1 mile bear left into A6010 Wilbraham Road. Carry on for 3 miles into Moseley Road B5093. First Left into Firs Athletic Ground.



FROM WEST/NORTH WEST (SCOTLAND, CARLISLE, LANCASTER)



M6 then M61 them M62 then M60. Leave M60 at J8 signed Manchester/Altrincham. Follow A56 Chester Road towards Manchester Centre for 3/4 mile. Then right into A5145 Edge Lane signed Sheffield. After 1 mile bear left into A6010 Wilbraham Road. Carry on for 3 miles into Moseley Road B5093. First left into Firs Athletic Grounds.



FROM WEST/NORTH WEST (2) (LIVERPOOL)



M58 or M62E -Then take M6 South. Leave M6 at Junction 20 for M56 signed Manchester. Follow Manchester signed onto A5103 Princess Road. After 3 miles turn right into Wilbraham Road A6010 signed Sheffield/ Ashton-Under-Lyne. Then after 1 mile turn left into Firs Athletic Grounds off Moseley Road B5093.



FROM SOUTH (LONDON, BIRMINGHAM) M6 North. Turn off at Junction 19 signed Manchester. Follow Manchester Centre signs. Right on M56 at Junction 8 signed Manchester. Follow Manchester signed onto A5103 Princess Road. After 3 miles turn right into Wilbraham Road, A6010 signed Sheffield/Ashton-Under-Lyne. Then after 1 mile turn left into Firs Athletic Grounds off Moseley Road B5093.



FROM THE EAST (SHEFFIELD)



M67 West bound from Mottram on A57(T) signed Manchester. After 2 miles turn left into Kirkmanshulme Lane A5184. Then left into Stockport Road A6. After ¼ mile turn right into Dickenson Road A6010. Then after ¼ mile left into Birchfields Road A34, then after ¾ mile right into Moseley Road then first right into Firs Athletic Grounds.



FROM SOUTH EAST (DERBYSHIRE)



A6 through Stockport signed Manchester. Left into Albert Road, A5093 signed Stretford. Carry straight on for ½ mile into Moseley Road and first right into Firs Athletic Grounds.
