Olympic sprint

Had a good day spectating at Eton Dorney yesterday, but many in the audience around us were surprised at the lack of GB boats. I understood that as host nation we were entitled to enter each category (?) so can anyone on here explain - if that's the case - why we didn't enter a mens K2 or K4?

Ivan Lawler gave his opinion on qualification for Olympic berths on his website, I'm sure others have a different view of the situation.

Looking at the CE Facebook page yesterday it didn't seem as though even the organisers were bothered enough about canoe sprint to get the right logo in place:
