Absolutely! Really well deserved! Should bode well for interest in canoeing and kayaking in general, not just competition.

Can we celebrate this by not relegating the thread to the back of the competition forum?!

Absolutely superb effort - great to see and hear such a partisan crowd as well, made canoeing good TV.

Fingers crossed that BCU / CE can use this exposure to the same standard as those paddlers reached. Increase participation, revive slalom paddling and increse awareness of access issues.

Wiggo used his gold to raise cycle safety in the national media, what can our sport do?

Top Job guys!

Absolutely, they need to capitalise on this while things are still hot. Funny how many "wanted: slalom boat" ads have appeared since the start of this week!

This could be very good for canoeing and kayaking in general though.

Fantastic result, and a great spectacle to watch. Even non-paddling friends thought it was excellent.

The late highlights showed the runs to the Hawaii-5-0 theme tune!

Good to see Richard Fox there too, although his daughter Jessica was paddling for Australia & winning Silver (her mum, Myriam Jerusalmi won Bronze in 1992).

Well, unfortunately it looks like the prime moment has been lost. Lots of publicity but unfortunately not seen any mention of access so far - despite a question from John McEnroe about number of slalom courses in the country being a prime opportunity.

Another day, the media has moved on and it will be too late now. Success in the ww, failure on the campaign front.

But not just from the paddlers, where were the press releases from ce / rac? Fair enough the media may not have picked them up, but no signs of press releases on social media either.

I always thought that you struck whilst the iron was hot, obviously our campaign / pr people think otherwise.. Time for a new pr / rac campaing manager.

Just a thought, maybe the BCU / CE media relations guro could have used her position as lead bbc comentator to raise grass roots issues?

Another opportunity lost?

I did send the boys a message on Twitter, and may have sneakily mentioned access! It'll be lost in hundreds of messages, but you never know...

When interviewed by the press and asked if she felt any pressure to do as well as her illustrious parents she replied "No, I'm better than them they never won anything at Junior level!"
