Here's hoping my nice new (well 'new' to me anyway) Quest will help me to better last year's decidedly average performance!

Re: Ravenglass Seaquest 2012 - date for the diary
Just been looking for information about this.
There apparently is none!
I've got the fact that the next one is 6th May 2012, but all I can find online is a bunch of reports from previous events.
Is there a web page I can point people towards with info about this years competition... You know - time it starts, when to meet, where to meet, what the event consists of, how much it costs to enter?
Cheers :-)

Re: Ravenglass Seaquest 2012 - date for the diary
The Ravenglass Seaquest does not have a corresponding website but if you take a look at the 2011 Start Info you will find most of the relevant details:
http://www.performanceseakayak.co.uk/Resources/Articles/Ravenglass%20Seaquest%202011%20Start%20Info%20V2.pdf
You will also find contact details for the Organiser (Annette Morris); once you register your interest via email then Annette usually forwards further details.
The date in question is 6th May 2012 and the venue is Ravenglass - if you get to Ravenglass on the day then you would have to try pretty hard to overlook the Seaquest.

I believe this is the last year that Annette is going to put this event on - she has moved to Scotland now, so it is not so convenient for her to organise this. I hope some local cumbrian paddlers will pick it up as it would be a shame to lose it from the calendar.

Text of an email from Annette received today:
'Dear Kayakers and Canoeists
The next Ravenglass Seaquest is on Sunday May 6th starting mid morning. Please see the flyer attached - please distribute further.
I'll send out more information and an entry form soon. As usual just e-mail me if you are interested in taking part letting me know whether you are in a kayak, canoe, pair, double, family, group, etc, etc..
For those who want to camp I recommend the Seven Acres Campsite at Gosforth, only a few miles from Ravenglass, and very near the excellent pubs of Gosforth. 019467 82777. They also have a camp-site at St Bees where you can surf if windy or potter underneath the sand-stone cliffs if calm. Ravenglass camp-site is available for Camping & Caravan Club members if you want to stay for 3 days.
Hope you can make it
Best wishes

If anyone is staying in the area on the Saturday night before the event and fancies an evening's entertainment, the band 'Collapsed Rebellion' are on in the Brown Cow Inn at Waberthwaite, which is on the A595 about 5 miles south of Ravenglass. The Brown Cow also does accommodation if you need it.
But take it easy unless you like paddling with a hangover!

This is coming up fast so time for a bump and I need to remind some of the people I think will enjoy it or have asked about it.
Looking forward to it.
A great friendly event, good for all abilities (lots of classes) and ages.

Also Camping by the side of Coniston water at the National Trust Campsite Hoathwaite Farm, I know its a bit of a drive but great location right next to the lake, and usually quiet as all the !)$**!$* wits go to Coniston Hall!

Just a note, number for the seven acres campsite is 01946 822 777 the number listed above didn't work for me.
It appears that the St Bees (Seacote) campsite can be booked on the same number.

Thanks to Annette, Phil, Chris and the other helpers from Copeland Canoe club for putting on another great event. 68 boats, over 90 paddlers and fine weather to cap it off!
Big thanks to Annetta for organising this event for the last 6 years, Copeland are taking it over now and we wish them success with the event going forward.
Seven Acres campsite was excellent too, as were the pies in the Gosforth Hall.... great weekend!
