What are the best access points to get on the water on Loch Ken.... ?

By the old railway bridge (just beyond the campsite coming from the Dumfries side) offers an easy launch and a lay-bye to park in. There are also lots of small lay-byes on the west side, at the top end. It's also possible to get on at the barrage end. Mike.

Just down from the hydro plant up the river for a nice paddle to the loch with some grade 1 rapids on the way is good.
