Hi all,
I would really love some advice on SWWCs. I have paddled on white water in a kayak for a while. Last year I went on a canoe 3star course which I really enjoyed.
I would now like to run some rivers in a canoe. I have had a play in a traditional open boat on some grade 2 stuff but would really like to get something shorter and paddle some bigger stuff.
I just don't know much about white water canoes. Anyone help?
I am 100kg / 15.7stone.
Cheers,

Hi Matt,
What do you want to know... It's adictive, more fun, more challenging. Like with anything you need to try before you buy... We are down at Straford on Avon and have a couple of flys in the SOAK club... Flys are probably a good starting point... and a weir locally.. but best places in the summer are the Tryweryn or the Nene WWC... Have you looked at www.songofthepaddle.co.uk... There is a group that do the ocassional SWWC trips a couple of times a year. Get yourself a drysuit, borrow aboat... Have a go.. Ping me if you want to give it a try. Cheers

Go to www.CBoats.net and join the forum, they'll answer every technical question you might have, and a number you didn't know about when you asked :P
After that go to www.Songofthepaddle.co.uk and join that forum, because it significantly increases your chances of hooking up with other OC1-ers
This and to a lesser extent This may be of interest to you also.

A list of OC1 paddlers on the SoTP forum can be found here http://www.songofthepaddle.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?18061-Do-you-paddle-a-SWWC-play-boat-spec-boat/page3. There may be some close to you.
