To OC1ers out there!

Postby Lester » Wed Aug 08, 2012 3:20 pm

Hi Guys

I have been into OC1’s for a couple of years now and had a few coaching lessons, trouble is, I’m only progressing so far. I’m reasonably comfortable on G3 stuff but would like to improve a lot. The folks I go on trips with are all kayakers and although I learn some things from them, OC1 technique is another language to them. So what I was wondering was….Is there a group of OC1ers out there who regularly get together and go tripping? It would be great to meet up with others and learn some stuff from you. Don’t mind travelling and I’m located in the E Midlands area.

Cheers

I believe there's a facebook group 'active oc1' I think, I'm sure someone on here's a member and will chime in.

Hi Lester,
I'm based in Matlock and could be described as a 'moderately active' OC1 boater... ;-) I will be getting out a fair bit this winter and usually try to make Wasburn releases and as many trips to the Tryweryn as I can squeeze in during the summer.

Who's been coaching you by the way and what boat are you paddling?

Quite an active group of OC1 paddlers on the song of the paddle forum including some of the best coaches in that discipline in the land. They regularly arrange paddles and coaching sessions.

Hi Lehttp://i714.photobucket.com/albums/ww ... -1.jpgster,

As 3 Coats asked; who has been coaching you and what are you paddling?

Also, do you have a reliable roll?

I have a couple of opportunities coming up which could be very helpful indeed.

Cheers,

Hi Ken - I've been on the water with Kelvin a few times and the roll is something I'm still working on.

Hi Dave - I think we spoke previously on the SOTP website some time ago. I'll PM you whenever I get out on a trip, wont be so many now until winter but I'll definately let you know should anything come up....And perhaps you could reciprocate?
And yes.....VERY FRUSTRATING isnt it !
